Understanding Context and Format Part 3
Let’s look at the questions below and see what information we can pick up before we listen to the audio.

Practice your ability to read information from the instructions and questions.
1 How many people will be speaking?
2. Who are they?
3 What are they discussing?
4 How many courses can Jack choose from?
<details><summary>Answer</summary>
1. The instructions indicate we will be listening to two people.
2. Jack and his tutor
3. Optional courses available to Jack next semester.
4. There are 5 courses Jack can choose from.
</details>
5 Who is most likely to give the information that answers the questions, Jack or his
tutor?
<details><summary>Answer</summary>
Jack, as the answers all relate to his choices.

So after looking at the instructions and questions we can build a structure of how we can expect the information. We can be sure that all if not most, of it will come during Jacks’ turn to speak. This will give us a headstart when we listen to the audio.
